In 4 years running, the Tahoe Rim Tour is quickly entering the must do list of local xc skiers and snowshoers. The race, a fundraiser for Far West Nordic Ski Education Association, saw 242 racers competing in the three divisions, kick and glide, all glide, and kick without glide. Truckee XC was well represented by Debbie Hakansson, Susan Reynolds, Laura Stern, Rick Reynolds, Danny Buchanan, and Val LiCon.
The classic race brought all the challenges of klister conditions. In the end it was a matter of finding the right number of Toko Multiviola Carbon klister layers for the right mix of longevity on the abrasive snow without slowing the skier on the downhills. Laura Stern finished 3rd in her division in the classic race.
For the skaters it was firm and fast. Toko HF Red and Yellow, with Jetstream Red topcoat added to the speed. Congratulations go to Rick Reynolds for finishing first in his division and first overall in the skate race. Susan Reynolds also saw the podium in the skate race as first in her division and second overall woman.
Thank you to all the volunteers from Far West, Tahoe XC, and Northstar Ski area, for making this such a great event. Bring a friend back with you next year.
A reminder that this Saturday, January 29th, from 9 to 11, Truckee XC will be at Tahoe Cross Country for a Rossignol/One Way Skate and Toko Wax Clinic. The clinics are free with the cost of your train pass from Tahoe XC.
